A Remembrance Service for ANZAC Day 25th April 2021

ANZAC Day commemorates all New Zealanders killed in war and honours our returned servicemen and women.

ANZAC Day 2020 services – including the National Services at Pukeahu National War Memorial Park and Atatürk Memorial – will not be going ahead this year due to the restrictions in place in response to COVID-19.

This is the first time since ANZAC Day services began in 1916 that New Zealanders are not able to gather nationwide to mark the anniversary.

Instead, New Zealanders are being encouraged to find other ways to remember and honour all those who served and are still serving New Zealand in conflict and peacekeeping.

I pray you can participate in the following service at a time that is convenient to you. This 'service' will take about thirty (30) minutes.

Opening Hymn

Let us continue by watching, and if you feel called to do so please sing along, with the video, "Abide With Me."

When you are ready - click the "play" button on the video window, below:

Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;

The darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide;

When other helpers fail and comforts flee,

Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me.

Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;

Earth's joys grow dim, its glories pass away;

Change and decay in all around I see

O Thou who changest not, abide with me.

I need Thy presence every passing hour

What but Thy grace can foil the tempter's pow'r?

Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be?

Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.

I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless;
Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness;
Where is death's sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.

Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes,
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
Heaven's morning breaks and earth's vain shadows flee.
In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.

Pause for a moment of silent reflection.
